Surprised Little Kitty
How CUTE is this little kitten with its little white paws and big eyes?
I wished my cat was as cute as this. I do love it though otherwise I wouldn’t have got cat insurance for it.
Do you have a cuter cat video than this? Let us know!

How To Clean Cat Ears
A couple of months ago we brought you information on the correct technique to use when cleaning your cat’s ears. However, it was clear by your responses that you weren’t all entirely confident with what to do. Bearing in mind that ear infections are amongst the most common forms of health problems found in cats, it’s especially important that you know what you’re doing in this area; even those of you with the very best cat insurance can’t afford to neglect learning this technique. That’s why today we bring you this video from Cat the Vet – a detailed video guide to cleaning your cat’s ears. We figured it would be better to show you what to do this time, so here you go:

Best Cat Videos – Incredible Cage Antics!
In our Best Cat Videos collection, we have categories for cutest, smartest and funniest – but not for most downright incredible… However, we may well have to introduce one if you keep sending us videos like this one! This is evidence for why you should never keep birds and cats togther – even if you think you bird in safe in a cage. How this cat manages this trick I’ll never know, but it’s totally amazing…

I hope the owner had some pet insurance for whatever bird was in that cage! In fact, looking at the effort the cat had to put in, let’s home the owner had some cat insurance as well!
For now, I’m going to put this in the smartest videos section.
Acute Vomiting in Cats
Life humans, all cats will vomit at some point in their lives – it’s perfectly natural. However, if you find your cat continues to vomit over a prolonged period of time, even when there is nothing left in their stomach – there could be something more serious going on. Other symptoms that may indicate that the vomiting might be due to a more serious problem include:
- Blood in the vomit or faeces
- Overall weakness and distress
- Pain in the abdomen
The biggest problem with regards to acute vomiting is that it can have many causes and it’s not easy to discern which is to blame. Some of these causes include:
- Allergic reactions to food (or food intolerance)
- Sudden diet changes
- Worms
- Gastroenteritis
- Tumours
- Kidney disease
Although allergies are fairly easy to treat, more serious problems can require urgent medical intervention. For this reason it is highly important not only that you take your pet to the vet as soon as possible, but that you also invest in cat insurance to ensure you can afford for your cat to have surgery if required.
Next time we’ll cover a few of the ways to tell what might be causing acute vomiting in your cat.

Fat Cat Needs Home
After the popularity of our story about Socrates, the dieting cat, I thought I’d bring you another Fat Cat tale; this time, however, you might be able to help…

Higgins, a cat at a Cambridgeshire-based rescue centre, weighed 11kg when he arrived in March; making him bigger than a small dog! Now he has managed to lose almost a third of his body weight, the RPSCA are looking to find an owner who can handle a food-obsessed cat and help keep Higgins on a healthy diet; “This cat will need a very special new home as he is obsessed with food and will need someone who can commit to helping him towards a healthy lifestyle”, said a representative of the RSPCA.
Rita Austin, the cattery supervisor, said of Higgins that “He has a long way to go to reach his target weight, but we think Higgins will make the perfect companion, especially to anyone who can identify with the trials and tribulations of weight watching.” The RSPCA are looking for somebody who can identify with a cat that is “competitive over food” and capable of investing both time and money into the necessary cat insurance and special diet to help Higgins keep losing weight. If this sounds like you, why not get in touch with the RSPCA or with us here at the Cat Health blog – maybe you’re the perfect companion for this competitive cat.

By the way, if you are thinking of sticking your finger in your cat’s mouth, do wash your hands first! Our fingers, especially the area underneath our fingernails, are home to huge amounts of potentially harmful bacteria. This is especially important to remember when playing with kittens, so be aware and make sure you get some cat insurance just in case!
